Travertine park

For many decades up until 2007, travertine was quarried in the middle of Bad Cannstatt from Stuttgart's rich mineral water resources. But what to do with a quarry in the city that is no longer in use? The geologically and ecologically significant area has been rededicated and is now a local recreation area, open-air museum and biotope all in one. The former quarries are now embedded in a green area where you can experience the history of the industry. Old stone processing equipment, crane tracks and rails have been left as park elements. Comfortable paths lead through the biotope, which offers a magnificent view of Bad Cannstatt.
