Erlebnistour

What is the story behind the legendary tale of the Deufringen castle ghost? Which tree is behind the name "Tilia Cordata"? And what is there to discover at the Villa Rustica in Nürtingen? The adventure tour offers the opportunity to discover all these treasures of the cultural landscape between Heckengäu and Schönbuch by bike.

The varied cycle route between Weil der Stadt, Herrenberg and Nürtingen leads through the diverse landscapes of the Heckengäu and Schönbuch: lovely river valleys, majestic forests and expansive meadow landscapes await cyclists. Here you can immerse yourself in a landscape that has retained much of its beauty - and explore the cultural and culinary offerings of the towns and communities along the route.

The colour red guides you through the tour. Views and information stations along the way provide an insight into the cultural history of the region and invite you to join in. Here you can experience earlier forms of farming and historical crafts.

Access points at S-Bahn stations and central hiking car parks allow flexible entry and exit to the route as well as travelling by train.

Views along the route provide an insight into the cultural history of the region.

Until 2024, the main route of the adventure tour was known as the Museum Cycle Route. The new concept for the adventure tour was developed under the coordination of the Verband Region Stuttgart in cooperation with the districts of Böblingen and Esslingen as well as the 17 towns and municipalities along the route.

The Verband Region Stuttgart has funded the design of the adventure tour, the new signage and the production of the elements from its Landschaftspark co-financing programme. In the surrounding area, the Verband Region Stuttgart has provided financial support for other projects such as the bird of prey adventure trail in Weil im Schönbuch, the Alte Seilerei and the rest area at Kalteneck Castle in Holzgerlingen.

As the signposting process has not yet been fully completed, you will still find the logo and the "Museum cycle path" signposting in places. We will be happy to receive any information on signposting and/or route guidance at landschaftspark(at)region-stuttgart.org.

Note on the map

The map shows the first stage of the adventure tour. The main route and the secondary routes Mint, Yellow and a section of the secondary route Green are currently signposted on site. The views in Böblingen will be installed in spring 2025; all other elements shown on the map have already been realised. Further views and adventure stations will gradually be added to the map.
