Route der Industriekultur

Experience nature and exercise, combined with information on economic development and technical progress in the Filstal valley - from early industrialization to the present day - this is possible on the Filstal Route der Industriekultur. Numerous relics and evidence of a long and impressive industrial history can be discovered by bike. Stations and information boards along some 78 kilometers from Wiesensteig to Plochingen tell visitors about the industrial history of the Filstal valley. The route leads through the Swabian Alb biosphere reserve and the Upper Filstal valley, past nature reserves and fantastic views.

The concept for the cycle route was designed by 16 municipalities together with the Verband Region Stuttgart on the basis of the Filstalradweg. The Route der Industriekultur was opened in 2015. The route is also being continuously developed - with additional stops and information offers, as well as even better public transport connections.

In addition to the overall concept, the Verband Region Stuttgart has also supported the route in specific areas with its co-financing program: for example, numerous places to rest and linger, such as the film promenade in Mühlhausen im Täle, the seating area with pergola on the Fils in Bad Überkingen, the stop at the Fils weir between Göppingen and Eislingen/Fils or the Filster terraces in Göppingen and Uhingen.
