Fils terraces in Göppingen

Sometimes it can be so simple: instead of a steep, overgrown embankment, the Fils in Göppingen now has easy access to the water, comfortable seating and improved flood protection. As a result, the town has finally been able to move closer to the river, which flows through the center of Göppingen but is still so difficult to reach and experience. Near-natural banks provide new habitats for flora and fauna. A great place to relax, both for the people of Göppingen and for cyclists who want to take a short break along the Filstal route.

• The Fils terraces are accessible at all times.
• Over a length of around 200 meters, one bank of the Fils at the level of the former Sprudelfabrik and near the Christophsbad clinic has been made accessible again.
• The new bank and terraces were opened in May 2014.
• The Verband Region Stuttgart supported the construction with a total of 280,000 euros.

The Fils flows directly south of Göppingen railroad station, which is easily accessible by Metropolexpress. The Filsterrassen are located around 900 meters downstream to the west. The quickest way from the station is via the large pedestrian bridge over the tracks and the river. Then continue along the river to the terraces.
