Albtraufgänger

The Albtraufgänger is around 100 kilometers long and stretches along the slopes of the Albtrauf through orchards and forests, through valleys and to striking rocky outcrops and volcanic peaks with breathtaking panoramic views of the Alb foothills. The juniper heaths and many nature reserves with orchid meadows and mysterious caves are particularly characteristic of the UNESCO Swabian Alb and Upper Filstal biosphere reserve. Exciting sights line the route: the Reußenstein ruins above Neidlingen, the Filsursprung spring near Wiesensteig, the Ave Maria pilgrimage church in Deggingen, the Helfenstein ruins above the town of Geislingen an der Steige and the historic workers' settlement in Kuchen.

The circular trail has been awarded the European "Leading Quality Trail" quality seal for hiking trails and leads from and to Wiesensteig in a total of six daily stages. In the north, it is also linked to the fruit route and the Voralbroute. In addition to the route itself, several rest and viewing points have been created along the route with funding from the Verband Region Stuttgart.
